City of Medicine Hat opens up applications for Community Vibrancy Grant

Jun 2, 2025 | 11:36 AM

The City of Medicine Hat opened up applications for its Community Vibrancy Grant on Monday.

Aaron Nelson, manager of cultural experiences and events, said the city is pleased to open applications for 2026 Community Vibrancy Grants and support projects that bring life to the community.

“We are also offering two-year funding for festivals and events, helping organizations plan further ahead, grow their impact, and build lasting experiences for our community,” said Nelson.

“It may seem early to apply for a grant for an event or project that will happen next year, but it is important for many organizations to plan well in advance so they may better serve our community.”

There are two different funding streams available for the grant.

The community project and activities stream has $52,000 in available funds for 2026.

The annual festivals and special events stream, for larger-scale events, has two years of funding available, with $83,000 set aside for each of 2026 and 2027.

Previous recipients of the Community Vibrancy Grant include the Brain Injury Awareness Month Reconnecting to Play at the Medicine Hat Public Library, Learn to Weave in Medicine Hat, Addictions Don’t Discriminate, Medicine Hat Jazz Festival, and the Rise Up Hot Air Balloon Festival.

Eligibility criteria is available through the city website.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, July 18 at 3 p.m.
