Animal-based market Pet Fest returns to Medicine Hat

May 23, 2025 | 3:09 PM

Pet Fest is returning to Medicine Hat this weekend with nearly 30 vendors with animal-related products and services.

Hosted by the Cypress View Veterinary Clinic for the first year after it was run by a different organization in 2023, and discontinued after.

Brittany Gooden, registered veterinary technologist and digital media manager, said proceeds raised by Cypress View from the event will support the Medicine Hat SPCA and the Root Cellar.

“We work really close with SPCA. We’re their veterinary clinic. They come to us for things, so it’s nice to be able to kind of help them as well,” Gooden said.

“The Root Cellar is kind of the same thing. We work with them as much as possible, and we donate as much as we can,” she added.

“It’s the best part of being a privately-owned practice is that we can be part of our community as much as possible.”

She said it is free to attend, with dogs or cats welcome as long as they are well-behaved and on a leash.

“I have two rescues coming with adoptable animals,” Gooden said.

“I have a bunch of raffle prizes for draws. We also have two artists coming down from Calgary to do free pet caricatures.”

Gooden is hoping to see the return of the event well attended.

“I think it’s going to be a really fun event. I’ve done a lot of planning. It’s been a long few months for this, so I think people will enjoy it,” Gooden said.

“I think our community loves their pets so much. I think people are going to be happy with it.”

The event takes place at the Cypress Centre Pavilion on the stampede grounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m on Saturday.
