Here is what’s on in Medicine Hat this weekend: May 16-19

It will be a rainy long weekend.

Friday started off overcast but could clear, though the high could be 17 C. Saturday will bring a chance of showers and 19 C at its peak. Sunday won’t be much better with 14 C and more rain.

The sun returns holiday Monday with a 20 C high.

Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat.

🛍 Farmer’s market

Saturday

The 2025 Medicine Hat Farmers’ Market gets underway for the season this weekend.

There will be fresh produce, homemade baking, fruits, meats, crafts, jewellery, wines, fresh roasted coffee and many more items.

The markets run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays run from May 17 to Oct. 4.

🐅 Tigers championship?

Friday

The Medicine Hat Tigers aim to wrap up their series against the Spokane Chiefs to win the Western Hockey League final.

The Tigers enter Friday’s game at match point, putting the Chiefs on the defensive in their own arena.

Tune into the game live with voice of the Tigers Will Bryant on Wild 94.5 radio starting with the pre-game show at 6:30 p.m.

🏕 Camping filled up

All weekend

Campgrounds in and around Medicine Hat are at or nearly at full capacity.

That includes Gas City Campground, which is at 99 per cent capacity, according to city staffer.

🧺 Open crafts

Saturday and Sunday

The Shabby Vintage Belle is hosting an open craft weekend.

Attendees can make welcome signs, flower pots, fairy jars and more projects as part of the open craft days.

It runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

✨ Pride cleanup

The Prairie Pride Guild of Medicine Hat and District is marking the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, known as IDAHOBIT, with a community clean up.

IDAHOBIT is celebrated annually on May 17 to mark the day that the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the list of mental disorders in 1990.

The guild is hosting its 2nd annual spring cleanup, meeting at Riverside’s Scherer Manor.

🗨 Protests against UCP

Saturday

Protests in front of Premier Danielle Smith’s constituency office have now moved to MLA Justin Wright’s office, as well.

In previous months, the protestors have raised concerns over Smith’s handling of the AHS procurement scandal; her government’s deregulation of mountain coal mining; and the province’s approach to health care, education and affordability.

The rally will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. from Saturday.
