The Medicine Hat Tigers weren’t able to recover after the Spokane Chiefs came out strong in the first period, with both teams coming off the weekend with a win each in the Western Hockey League final.

Cayden Lindstrom found the back of the net for the first time since March 30, 2024, to get the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The Chiefs responded with four goals in under five minutes to take a three-goal lead over the Cats.

Berkley Catton, Rasmus Ekstrom, Owen Martin, and Shea Van Olm each found the back of the net to silence Co-op Place.

Bryce Pickford found the back of the net on the powerplay for the lone goal of the middle frame, shrinking the Tigers deficit to two.

Both Pickford and Hunter St. Martin rang the iron in the middle frame.

The Tigers were unable to complete their third third-period comeback of the postseason.

The shots sit at 20-16 for the Chiefs.

The Tigers entered tonight’s game off a 4-1 Game 1 victory that extended their postseason win streak to a staggering 11 games.

Returnees Lindstrom and Andrew Basha combined to get the Cats on the board less than a minute into Game 1, and the Tigers would hold that lead for the remainder of the night.

Bryce Pickford, Ethan Neutens, and Tanner Molendyk rounded out the scoring for the Tigers in Game 1.

Harrison Meneghin turned aside 36 of 37 shots he faced, continuing his stellar postseason, improving to 11-0-0.

Medicine Hat held Spokane to a single goal for just the second time this postseason despite allowing a playoff high 37 shots against.

Chiefs forward Andrew Cristall was held without a point in Game 1, snapping a 19-game point streak for the WHL’s leading scorer in the regular season.

Spokane captain Berkley Catton recorded the lone tally for the Chiefs in Game 1, scoring on the power play early in the third period.
