Apr 30, 2025 | 2:28 PM

The Tri-Area Intermunicipal Development Plan has officially been adopted by Cypress County, the City of Medicine Hat, and Town of Redcliff

The IDP represents a collaborative effort between the municipalities to coordinate long-term land use planning, foster responsible growth, and enhance regional cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

A boundary amendment to the current plan is also being jointly pursued by the municipalities.

A news release from Cypress County said the amendment aims to better reflect planning priorities and development realities within the region, with a goal to finalize and adopt this updated boundary by the end of June 2025.

“The adoption of the Tri-Area IDP highlights our continued dedication to regional collaboration and thoughtful planning,” said Cypress County reeve Dan Hamilton.

“We look forward to building on this foundation as we work with our neighbours in Medicine Hat and Redcliff on the forthcoming boundary amendment,” he added.
