City of Medicine Hat electrical substation approved

The Alberta Utilities commission has given approval for the City of Medicine Hat to go ahead with construction and operation of a new electrical substation.

It will be on the southwest city limits, on the west side of Highway 3.

The city says the site has no agricultural impact and it’s proximity to Highway 3 results in low social and visual impact.

A previous application to build on another location was turned down in 2023.
