Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat and area: April 11-13

It’s not quite hot out yet, but we’re getting closer.

Friday will bring a high of 20 C before Saturday cools off to 15 C and a chance of showers. Sunday keeps the cooldown trend going with a high of 9 C.

Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat and area.

🚒 Rooftop campout

Friday to Sunday

The annual rooftop campout in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada is taking place this weekend at Fire Station No. 2.

Ground crews will direct motorists over the weekend into the parking lot of the station to make donations supporting the 50,000 Canadians living with neuromuscular disorders.

Donations to the foundation are currently being accepted on the Firefighter’s Facebook page.

🐅 Tigers continue playoff run

Saturday and Sunday

The Medicine Hat Tigers are continuing their playoff run this weekend.

The Tigers will kickstart the second round at Co-op Place with an opener versus the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday evening.

Less than 24 hours later, the Tigers play the Raiders again at home Sunday at 6 p.m.

🍻 Brewtopia

Saturday

Brewtopia is bringing some of the best in craft beer to The Silver Buckle Sports Bar this weekend.

A $20 ticket includes entry to the craft beer festival, a sampling glass, three sample tickets and an event passport.

Tickets are available at various locations including at the Buckle.

🍺 Taco beer

Friday

Travois Ale Works is hosting another cask night.

A taco cask will be on-hand Friday evening.

Lime Cerveza paried with taco elements sure to bring “sabor intenso”, organizers say.

It gets started at 4 p.m.

🪧 Smith office protest

Saturday

The weekly protests in front of Premier Danielle Smith’s constituency office continues this weekend.

Protestors are raising concerns over the Alberta government’s approach to coal mining, health care, a proposed pension plan and other issues.

The rallies are organized in part by the left-wing AWARE Medicine Hat group and a loose assortment of local progressive leaders.

💃 Spring dance

Saturday

The German Canadian Harmony Club is hosting its annual Spring Fling this weekend.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and the dance gets underway at 7:30 p.m. at the Harmony Hall.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at Laurie Ann’s Fashions in the Co-op Mall.

Music will be provided by the Right Click Band.

🚣‍♀️ Paddling film festival

Sunday

The Medicine Hat Paddling Film Festival, the paddling club’s single fundraising event, is taking place this weekend.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Monarch Theatre downtown.

Tickets are $20 each and are available online, at the tourism information centre or at the door.

The festival will feature hand-picked paddling movies from the selection of Rapid Media Paddling Film winners, organizers say.

🎙 Mike Dambra comedy

Friday

Comedian Mike Dambra is taking the stage at Elements Entertainment Lounge.

The show begins at 8 p.m. on Friday evening.

“Join us for an amazing and hilarious evening,” organizers say.
