Medicine Hat-area PPC hopeful fails to get enough signatures to run

Jordan Harris failed to get the 100 signatures required to acquire formal certification as the People’s Party of Canada candidate for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner.

Harris, who was not included on a final list of riding candidates posted by Elections Canada on Thursday, said he was only able to get about 60 signatures.

“So, Glen Motz will likely get to make another million dollars off of us over his 20 years in office,” Harris said in an email to CHAT News.

“He’s getting close to $4 million made off of Canadian taxes. No term limits though, eh?” he said, without explanation.

The other declared candidates, Conservative Glen Motz, New Democrat Jocelyn Johnson, Liberal Tom Rooke and Green candidate Andy Shadrack, are listed.

CHAT News interviewed Harris on March 26 after he contacted the newsroom to say he was running for the PPC.

He argued that widespread government corruption was the top election issue amid a campaign dominated by worries over the cost of living and U.S. tariffs.

Harris in his statement to CHAT News lamented the continuing cycle of government between two parties.

“Now we wait for the CPC to do something corrupt so we can vote Liberals in the next election,” he wrote.

“And on and on it goes.”
