Alberta Fish and Wildlife officer fired on by recreational shooters: Brooks RCMP

Apr 10, 2025 | 5:17 PM

An Alberta Fish and Wildlife officer suddenly discovered that multiple bullets were heading towards him on a recent Sunday afternoon.

Brooks RCMP received a request for help at 2 p.m. on April 6 from the officer, who said a firearm was discharged in his direction while he was carrying out his work.

Police found out a group of three individuals were recreationally shooting on publicly accessible land.

But the bullets were ricocheting off a frozen lake and travelling toward Highway 36.

The trio were charged with careless use of a firearm.

RCMP said they would like to remind the public that obeying firearms laws and practicing appropriate firearm safety is paramount while enjoying recreational shooting.
