Division Avenue South construction set to resume on Monday

Mar 27, 2025 | 11:34 AM

The work on the Division Avenue South Rehabilitation Project will resume on Monday.

Crews completed most of the extensive project in 2024, leaving just one phase remaining in 2025.

The final phase of construction is anticipated to be completed by late-June 2025, weather permitting.

The remaining work includes two sections.

The Seventh Street to Tenth Street rehabilitation of asphalt surface, curb and gutter, installation of multi-use trail infrastructure, and installation of storm sewer infrastructure.

The work zone includes the intersection at Tenth Street but excludes the intersection at Seventh Street.

This work zone will require a full closure of this section of roadway and sidewalks on Division Avenue.

Local traffic will be permitted to access the local businesses in the area from the Eleventh Street Southeast intersection.

As work progresses, the work zone may decrease to help minimize the required traffic restrictions.

Motorists are asked to please obey all posted signage and detours in the area.

There will be one minor impact to Medicine Hat Transit Route 21 service during this closure.

Stop C084 at the corner of Division Avenue and Tenth Street SW will be closed.

Users will be able to access stop C083 instead, located at Tenth Street Southwest and Second Avenue Southwest.

Trail rehabilitation multi-use trail rehabilitation will also continue down Old Cemetery Road hill up to the three-way stop at College Avenue SE and Kipling Street SE.

This trail rehabilitation will run adjacent to the roadway and will not require any road closures to accommodate construction.

This work will be completed once work on Division Avenue has been completed.
