Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Cypress Hills celebrated its last open day of the season with a ‘beach’ or ‘Hawaiian’ theme on Sunday.

The majority of the hill was able to be open this year with the amount of snow, whereas only the main run was open to start the last season.

The hill opened for the season on Dec. 19, over a week earlier than it did the year previous.

Chris Dodds, visitor experience team lead for Cypress Hills Provincial Park and Hidden Valley Ski Resort, said the start of the season was the best the hill had in a number of years.

“This was a very successful season at Hidden Valley, with more than 19,000 skiers and snowboarders visiting the hill,” he said.

“There were significant snowfalls throughout the season, which provided great conditions right up to closing day.”

Jayk Sterkenburg made a visit on the final day to hear skiiers and snowboarders reflect on the season.
