Monsignor McCoy football program athlete signs with University of Calgary Dinos

Mar 19, 2025 | 5:26 PM

A consequential signing was held at Monsignor McCoy High School on Wednesday.

Colts football player Baker Thompson put pen to paper on a scholarship with the University of Calgary Dinos.

Thompson is one of six athletes from the Colts team — a combination of athletes from McCoy and Eagle Butte high schools — who will be continuing their football careers at the post-secondary level.

This is the first time since 2022 that the Colts football program has produced a university football recruit.

“Baker is an exceptional player, and we’re thrilled to see him take the next step in his football journey with the University of Calgary Dinos,” said a representative from the Colts football program.

“His commitment is a reflection of the effort and skill he has shown both on and off the field. We’re incredibly proud of his achievements.”

The Colts capped off last season with a strong 9-2 record and captured the Jerry Dawson Memorial B-Side Championship.

McCoy grad Jaxon Daniels will suit up for the Prince George Kodiaks Jr. Football Program this fall.

Four Eagle Butte graduates from the Colts will continue their football careers.

Hudson Mastel and Carsen McDonald will play for the University of Montana Northern Lights, based in Havre, Mt.

Kohen Osadzuk will play for the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs team in California.

Reid Vossler will play for the Calgary Colts Junior Football Team.

Thompson will be joined by a familiar opponent on the Dinos roster, as Medicine Hat High School Hawks football player Ira Hozak signed with the program in February.
