Taber visitor with confirmed measles case prompts public alert, AHS says

Mar 18, 2025 | 3:56 PM

A recent visitor to the Taber area had a confirmed case of the measles, Alberta Health Services says.

The individual was in public settings while infectious, according to an AHS alert Tuesday afternoon.

The public alert lists five locations where people may have been exposed to the individual.

It includes a Flair Airlines flight from Toronto to Calgary on March 8 and the Calgary airport and the Budget vehicle rental service on March 8 and 9.

People could’ve also been exposed at the Taber Health Centre emergency department on March 11 to 13 and Taber Shoppers Drug Mart on March 11.

Taber is located about one-and-a-half hours west along Highway 3 from Medicine Hat.

Anyone who attended these locations at these times who was born in or after 1970 — and has less than two documented doses of measles-containing vaccine — is at risk for developing measles, AHS says.

They are strongly encouraged to review their immunization records and monitor themselves for symptoms of measles.

Measles is an extremely contagious disease and is spread easily through the air.
