Medicine Hat Tigers visit St. Patrick’s School

Feb 5, 2025 | 5:17 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers were at St. Patrick’s School on Wednesday afternoon to share their individual stories of success and play a bit of ball hockey.

The Tigers versus students floor hockey game against the top two skate-a-thon fundraising classes.

St. Patrick’s students raised $10,800 this year in their annual skate-a-thon.

Fifty-seven per cent of the funds raised will go back to the Kinsmen Club in support of free skating and swimming for all city families.

Tigers captain Oasiz Wiesblatt said the floor hockey competition was tough, but it was a lot of fun.

“They’re aggressive. Sashing your ankles. The calls weren’t coming our way, but it was a lot of fun,” Wiesblatt said.

He said doing events like this is super special.

“I remember as a kid watching these older guys and I remember looking up to them and wanting to be like them,” Wiesblatt said.

“It’s really cool to kind of give back and have fun at school,” he added.

“These guys raise a lot of money for their community and their school, so that’s pretty incredible and pretty awesome.”

Wiesblatt said it was super fun coming to the school.

“It’s a lot of fun coming out here. All the boys enjoy it and I really love it,” Wiesblatt said.

“It’s kind of giving back to the community where they’re cheering for us all game long. It’s a good feeling.”
