The city says that the campsites book up quite fast, and have around 90 per cent capacity throughout the season.

They advise booking early as the campgrounds can get popular and busy.

Taylor Elderton, business services coordinator for Parks and Recreation with the city, recommends reservations to be made on the city website.

He says those who book can also call or email the city, but the website offers more convenience.

“We do advise booking early,” says Elderton. Jayk Sterkenburg/CHAT News

Elderton says locals are encouraged to stay at the campgrounds.

“We have people from all over the world. But locals are definitely encouraged to check it out,” he said.

“Our off season goes until June, so if you’re able to come in May or later in the season like September, we’re open as well,” he added.

“That’s not quite as busy then, if you want to check it out. It’s nice and close by to your home.”
