‘Repairing your Relationship’ program to connect couples in Medicine Hat

Jan 7, 2025 | 5:27 PM

Medicine Hat Family Service will be hosting what they call The Ultimate Date Night Experience at the Medicine Hat Public Library starting on Tuesday.

MHFS is an organization dedicated to preserving and strengthening families.

The monthly program is designed to help couples deepen their bond and build a healthier connection.

Krista Waddle, group facilitator at MHFS, said that the program is completely free, for improved accessibility.

“Everybody can always do better than what they’re at right now,” she said.

It’s inclusive to every couple, no matter the kind of phase the relationship is in.

Waddle said the topic of the first event is Frameworks and Foundations of Healthy Relationships.

She said it will give couples the chance to connect and communicate better.

“Healthy couples equals healthy families equals a healthy community,” she said.

“When you’re feeling at your best, when you’re feeling loved, when you’re feeling seen, when you look at your significant other as your partner, you can only benefit from that,” she added.

“Here at Family Service, we just want everybody to — it might sound cheesy, but — be the best that they can be.”

Waddle said that every event will conclude with a date night draw to a different restaurant.

“At the end of every session, there will be a draw from a local restaurant here in Medicine Hat that will be sponsoring the dinner,” she said.

“It’s community supporting community, local businesses supporting people in the community for what they’re trying to achieve with their personal best,” she added.

“They’re supporting us and our mission for mental health wellness.”

The first session starts Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 7:30 p.m.

It takes place at the MHPL, and will recur the first Tuesday of each month until June.
