The Mustard Seed hosted a Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve for anyone who wished to join.

“It’s the fellowship that you have around a table, and the conversations,” Dani Bolduc, community development specialist at The Mustard Seed, told CHAT News on Tuesday.

Everything was provided by the shelter, which hoped to bring the community together for the holidays.

Many volunteers contributed their time to make the dinner possible for those attending. Over 20 turkeys were donated to the shelter.

Bolduc said that Christmas is a great time to be a part of something bigger.

She said the organization’s mission is to bring hope and well-being, and be able to provide a home for the holidays.

The shelter’s dinner was for anyone looking for nourishment, some fellowship and community, and encouragement over the holidays.

“With the sense of community, with the sense of longing, with the sense of even just making it feel like home, with people eating and laughing and playing games,” she said.

“That it’s like, the desire to be housed is there, the desire to take a next step in recovery, the desire to want more is present, right?” she added.

“That’s what we’re hoping because having a home for the holidays is something different. And we’re just hoping that everyone, all of our guests will be able to find a home.”

Bolduc said compassion is something the people that they serve don’t always get all of the time.

She encouraged the community to keep the feeling going beyond the holidays.
