MONTREAL — Montreal will serve as host when Canada plays Hungary in the first round of Davis Cup qualifiers next year.

Tennis Canada says the two-day tie will begin Feb. 1 at IGA Stadium.

The winning team will advance to the second round of qualifiers in September for a berth in the tournament quarterfinals.

The losing team will be relegated to the World Group 1 level.

Canada has made back-to-back quarterfinal exits since winning the Davis Cup for the first time in 2022.

Player nominations are expected to be announced next month.
