Medicine Hat Tigers defenceman Väisänen makes Finland for World Juniors ahead of Saturday home game

The Medicine Hat Tigers will have a second player representing them this year at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa.

Defenseman Veeti Väisänen has been named to Finland’s roster for the tournament.

The 18-year old native of Hamina, Finland is a prospect of the Utah Hockey Club.

The tournament gets underway Dec. 26.

Tigers forward Gavin McKenna will also be at the tournament with team Canada.

The Tigers host the Lethbridge Hurricanes in a crucial home and home series this weekend with another one of the top teams in the Western Hockey League’s Central Division.

Game time tonight is at 7 p.m.

Will Bryant and Lance Doll will have the pregame on Wild 94.5 starting at 6:30 p.m.
