The Medicine Hat Tigers have traded defenseman Matt Paranych to the Regina Pats for a pair of draft picks.

Coming back to the Tigers is a 2025 third-round pick originally owned by the Calgary Hitmen, and the Regina Pats 2028 fourth-round pick.

Paranych last played the Tigers on Nov. 22 in his hometown of Edmonton.

Playing in 20 games this season, the 17-year old defender had three goals and three assists, with a +4 plus/minus rating.

Over his time with the Tigers, Paranych played in 76 games, scoring three times, putting up 13 assists, with a +26 plus/minus rating.

Tigers head coach and general manager Willie Desjardins said Paranych is a great young player with lot of potential.

“We wish him and his family all the best in Regina and thank him for his time here in Medicine Hat,” Desjardins said.
