Here is how Medicine Hat and area is marking Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day honours those who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces.

There will be services in Medicine Hat and Redcliff this year, as is tradition.

There will be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 13 degrees on Monday, according to Environment Canada.

Closures

Hours and services at city facilities will be impacted by Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.

City hall and administrative departments, the landfill, Crestwood Recreation Centre and Co-op Place are all closed.

The Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre will be closed, besides the ceremony Monday morning.

Medicine Hat

Remembrance Day in Medicine Hat includes a ceremony, parade and service.

It gets underway with a ceremony at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre at 9:30 a.m., with doors opening at 8:30 a.m.

A parade procession starts at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Esplanade and heads to the Cenotaph at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

The Remembrance Day service gets starts at 11 a.m. at the Cenotaph.

Redcliff

Remembrance Day in Redcliff includes a march and ceremony.

Marchers will meet at the Redcliff Legion starting at 8:30 a.m. before marching on to Parkside School at 9:45 a.m.

A ceremony will take place at Parkside starting at 10 a.m.

That will be followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Redcliff’s Cenotaph.

From noon onward, the legion will be open to the public.

Funeral home service

The Pattison Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Centre is holding a Holiday Remembrance Service Monday evening.

It will be an evening of remembrance, comfort, and connection, according to the event page.

Guests are asked to RSVP, but it’s not required to attend.

It starts at 7 p.m.
