Medicine Hat launches fourth round of infill incentive applications
The City of Medicine Hat has opened up an incentive that aims to encourage developers to build more multi-family housing options, diversify the housing market and enhance the value of its urban areas.
Wednesday marked the start of a fourth round of intakes for the Housing Infill and Redevelopment Incentive program that will remain ope until 5 p.m. on Nov. 20.
Owners of an infill property can apply and may be eligible for an incentive of $15,000 per dwelling unit for new residential development on a single site and $7,500 for the development of a backyard suite.
From a developer’s perspective, infill and redevelopment projects often come with additional costs and challenges, making incentives like the city’s crucial for urban redevelopment.
