Medicine Hat man creates art out of propane tanks and other scrap metal

“I like just like to kind of make them as I get parts and give them away and if it puts a smile on somebody’s face, it’s pretty good for me.”

A variety of different art items have been created by Hauck over the years, with most given away and some still on display in his yard.

Most given as gifts to co-workers, or to other who have brought him scrap metal, he would return back as a finished product, helping give a story behind the art work.

For Halloween, Hauck put together a bit of a tribute to his brother-in-law John Hamill, well known for his mustache, and as a councillor in Medicine Hat, who also ran for Mayor on two occasions.

Hauck still had some elections signs in his shed.

“I pulled them out and I thought gosh, can’t be too many more of these left and now that he’s passed away I’m sure he’d get a kick out of it so we put that up it was a Halloween thing obviously,” Hauck said.

Hauck adds that it’s important for people to have a hobby that they can enjoy.
