Immunization appointments now available for Albertans

Oct 7, 2024 | 10:08 AM

Albertans are now able to book their COVID-19 and influenza immunization appointments.

As of October 7, eligible Albertans can book their appointments for openings available to the general public starting October 15. In addition, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) immunization appointments can now be booked for openings beginning on October 21.

Health Minister Adriana LaGrange says, “As fall approaches, it’s important to plan ahead against circulating respiratory viruses. I strongly encourage everyone to consult with their local pharmacist, doctor or health care provider to make informed decisions about their health and ensure they’re well-prepared for the season.”

New to 2024, residents of continuing care homes and senior supportive living accommodations that are 60 years of age and older will have access to the publicly funded Abrysvo vaccine, which protects against RSV.

Seniors 75 and older living in the community are also eligible to apply for the shot, but supply of the vaccine is limited. For those not eligible through the provincially funded vaccine program, vaccines will be available for purchase.

The COVID-19 and influenza vaccines can be given to an individual on the same day, while the RSV vaccine must be given either two weeks prior to or two weeks after COVID-19 and/or influenza immunization vaccines.

Appointments can be booked online here or by phoning Health Link at 811.
