Medicine Hat city council changes electric and gas utility bylaws

Medicine Hat city council on Monday passed changes to its electric and gas utility bylaws to, according to staff, bring them in-line with current code references, corporate reorganization and operational practices.

These changes do not raise costs for taxpayers, staff said in response to a question from council.

The changes are also unrelated to the city electricity business review that is expected to come before council this fall to help inform the mayor and councillors as they determine how the electricity rate will calculated.

The electricity utility Bylaw 4792 and gas utility Bylaw 4801 were both passed unanimously by council.
