Medicine Hat, Cypress and Redcliff holding open house on new regional development plan

Oct 3, 2024 | 12:27 PM

The Town of Redcliff, Cypress County and the City of Medicine Hat are holding an open house on the new regional Intermunicipal Development Plan today.

It’s taking place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Desert Blume Golf Club.

The newly-proposed update to the IDP saves space for the agriculture industry and gives the county more room to grow, among other collaborative goals.

The suggested amendments to the Tri-Area Intermunicipal Development Plan took a concerted effort over much of the last year by all three municipalities, officials said.

The IDP, launched as required by the Municipal Government Act in 2009, was last updated in 2020. As a “living document”, it’s meant to be updated regularly.

The city, county and town first unveiled the IDP update on Sept. 19.
