Medicine Hat family says they ‘want to have our voices heard’ as city demands sign removal

Sep 26, 2024 | 12:50 AM

A Medicine Hat resident believes the city is unfairly targeting his family for a sign on their property that outlines why they don’t want a development in their neighbourhood.

Brock Hale told CHAT News his parents received a letter from the city that they need to take the sign down on Sept. 5.

His family later replied saying they would not be complying with the request and now the city wants to start issuing tickets that could cost his family thousands of dollars.

“We want to have our voices heard,” Hale said.

“And it doesn’t feel good to be told, you can’t have this sign. When it’s been there for months and months, there’s plenty of signs around town.”
