Power restored for most Medicine Hat homes that lost it after vehicle collision

The City of Medicine Hat reported that several homes regained power late Wednesday afternoon as crews repaired a damage pole near the airport.

However, 19 customers remained without power as of 4:40 p.m. as work continued.

The city said the outage for most of the 70 customers that lost power was reduced to less than five minutes.

“Please allow crews the space to work safely,” the city said.

The Medicine Hat Police Service received a report from the city that a vehicle had hit the power line and then left the scene, a spokesperson told CHAT News.

But an investigation was not opened and no further details were immediately available.
