Canadian Forces Base Suffield will carry out prescribed burns within the Suffield Range Training Area over the next seven months.

The controlled fires will take place during daytime hours between Sept. 1 and March 31 under supervision at all times, according to a public service announcement.

Residents of Medicine Hat, Suffield, Ralston and nearby areas may see smoke as a result of the burns, the National Defense bulletin warned.

Any fire that occurs outside of the Suffield Range Training Area must be reported to local authorities.

The CFB Suffield Fire Department and range control staff routinely conduct prescribed burns to maintain safety, training, and operations in the Suffield RTA.

The prescribed burns are coordinated with local stakeholders to ensure that residents and communities are safe at all times.
