Old Cemetery Road hill to reopen as Division Avenue construction continues

Aug 30, 2024 | 4:41 PM

Old Cemetery Road hill will re-open to motorists on Sunday.

That’s as construction continues on the Division Avenue South rehabilitation project, according to the City of Medicine Hat.

Once open, motorists will be able to access Division Avenue up to and including the intersection of 12th Street Southwest.

The next phase of construction on this project will include the rehabilitation of multi-use trail infrastructure, curb and gutter, as well as the asphalt surface on Division Avenue from 12th Street Southwest to 10th Street Southeast.

That section of Division Avenue will close on Sunday to maintain a safe work zone for the contactors.

Traffic detours will be installed, followed by construction activities.

Local traffic will be permitted to access the local businesses in the area at the 10th Street Southeast intersection.

Weather permitting, this phase of the Division Avenue South rehabilitation project will be completed by the end of September.

Traffic detours will be in effect and will change as the active construction zone progresses on this project.

The city asks motorists to obey all posted signs, speed limits and detours for the safety of travellers and crews.
