Rebark raises money to help SPCA animals stay cool

Aug 18, 2024 | 7:00 AM

When Jody Leopold heard dogs, cats and rabbits at the Medicine Hat SPCA were without air conditioning, she wanted to help.

“We all know being in the heat is not a good thing and we don’t even have fur on us,” Leopold said from inside her daughter’s Rebark shop.

After getting approval from the SPCA, Leopold launched a bottle drive fundraiser to get the AC fixed.

The support was instant.

“One car was loaded to the brim,” Leopold said Friday.

“It was really nice to see the community support come through again.”

Those who wish to help out can drop off their empty bottles anytime before 2 p.m. on Sunday at Rebark, located at 1355 Brier Park Cres. NW.

Leopold expects to know how much money was raised by Monday.
