Ontario residents arrested after police pursuit at Walsh

A large police presence in Walsh on Thursday was the result of an incident that started in Swift Current.

It began when someone took some liquor from a store in Swift Current, and left without paying.

Shortly after, the suspect vehicle was seen travelling west at a high rate of speed on the Trans Canada Highway, and a police pursuit was initiated.

It was determined the vehicle had been stolen the previous day in Brandon, and the plate had also been stolen.

Mounties turned on their flashing lights but the driver wouldn’t stop.

Swift Current and Maple Creek RCMP set up a tire deflation device and the vehicle eventually came to a stop at Walsh.

Officers recovered the stolen items as well as another vehicle plate reported as stolen in Manitoba.

Two Ontario residents are facing multiple charges and will be in court at Swift Current next Monday.
