Wildfire smoke air quality advisory lifted for Brooks

Aug 14, 2024 | 8:00 PM

Wildfire smoke was causing poor air quality and reduced visibility in Brooks, Drumheller and large areas of northern Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, according to an Environment Canada alert Wednesday afternoon.

The air quality advisory has since been lifted.

Air quality and visibility due to wildfire smoke can fluctuate over short distances and can vary considerably from hour to hour, the alert read.

During heavy smoke conditions, everyone is at risk regardless of their age or health. The fine particles in wildfire smoke pose the main health risk, Environment Canada said.
