Medicine Hat police lay attempted murder charges in apartment gunman case

The suspect in an officer-involved shooting at a Medicine Hat apartment building under two weeks ago has been charged with several counts of attempted murder, city police revealed in an update Wednesday.

Cole Scory, 30, was charged with four counts of attempted murder with a firearm, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm without a license and other firearms-related offenses, according to police.

The suspect remains in stable condition and is in custody, the Medicine Hat Police Service added. Also, police officers injured by gunfire from the suspect are recovering from their injuries.

The police service is asking for anyone who has any information about the incident and has not yet spoken to authorities to contact major crimes investigators at 403-529-8481.

No further details will be revealed due to ongoing investigations from the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team and the Medicine Hat police, officials said.
