Mayor Linnsie Clark says she is looking forward to finding out the result of a judicial review that could restore her mayoral powers and acknowledges the frustration she’s felt since the restrictions were put in place.

“I wouldn’t say that I’m worried, I’m certainly looking forward to the process concluding for sure,” Clark told CHAT News on Wednesday.

“I’m interested to see what the court thinks about the decision and we’ll go from there,” she said.

Council in March voted unanimously to sanction Clark after finding she broke its code of conduct bylaw by failing to treat the city manager with courtesy, dignity and respect during a tense exchange in August 2023.

It’s been a challenging time in the months since, Clark said.

“There’s certainly a certain amount of frustration that has been part of this but the key is to focus on what my job is, what I’m elected to do,” the mayor told anchor Dan Reynish.

Wednesday’s interview came less than two weeks to the Aug. 13 judicial review hearing, when a judge will make a decision regarding the validity of the sanctions and salary cut.
