Redcliff library aims to rekindle the fun in reading through summer camp

The Redcliff Public Library has been hosting a camp this summer to help rekindle the fun in reading.

Every week this month has been subject to a specific theme such biology or life underwater.

After reading the book, kids will build crafts relevant to the story they read.

The program has been packed with 24 kids enrolled in the morning program and 16 attending in the afternoon, according to program coordinator Aliana Zigler.

Zigler said that that there are plans to expand the project as the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“They’re always excited and asking ‘what are we doing tomorrow, what are we doing tomorrow?'” Zigler said.

“I have all the activity examples prepped that way they can see what they’re doing and they love getting to look at the activity board and saying ‘when do we get to do that craft?'” she added.

“The parents love to find out about what books they’re reading and seeing how they did their activity.”

While the program is wrapping up next week, the Redcliff library will have its next reading challenge in August.
