Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede parade brings road closures

Some people were already placing chairs overnight in preparation for the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede parade.

The parade gets underway at 9 a.m. this morning. As a result, there are several road closures and no parking zones for parade marshalling and staging.

On-street parking in the staging area in the 800 blocks of Second and Third Streets Southeast, as well as on Allowance and Woodman Avenues, will not be allowed after 7:30 p.m. this morning.

Finlay Bridge, Maple Avenue Bridge and Maple Avenue between First and Third Street will close at 8:30 a.m. until the parade is over.

The parade route has also changed this year due to downtown construction.

Parade route altered for 2024 (MH Stampede)

From Second Street and Maple Avenue, the parade heads west along First Street until it makes a left turn at Sixth Avenue, and over to Second Street.

The route then heads west on Second Street to the Esplanade at Fourth Avenue, where it heads north and down River Road to finish up at the Family YMCA.
