Alberta matching donations towards crowdfunded non-profits

The Alberta government wants to help crowdfunded non-profits this summer.

Crowdfunding Alberta is available to non-profits year-round, making it easier for them to raise much-needed funds.

The province will match 50 per cent of funds raised by an eligible campaign, up to $5,000 annually.

Tanya Fir, minister of arts, culture and status of women, said the work of non-profits never stop.

“From kids’ camps to animal rescue, donations through Crowdfunding Alberta help non-profits achieve their community goals,” Fir said in a statement Monday.

Since Crowdfunding Alberta was launched in 2021, nearly $1.2 million has been raised by 220 non-profit organizations.

The province matched more than $230,000 in funds for the campaign.
