Redcliff’s boil water advisory lifted after health services approval

Jul 18, 2024 | 10:46 AM

The Town of Redcliff’s boil water advisory was lifted Thursday morning after Alberta Health Services confirmed that satisfactory water quality was restored.

All residents and businesses can return to normal water consumption practices and boiling is no longer required, the town said.

Redcliff declared a boil water advisory on Sunday after a systems failure caused a high-level emergency at the water treatment plant.

Mayor Dwight Kilpatrick told CHAT News earlier this week that the power supply to the plant’s main computer was disrupted, likely due to a power spike.

The plant resumed operations by 3 p.m. on Sunday, according to a statement from the town.

Kilpatrick said that, as a result of the systems failure, the plant would now be under constant monitoring.
