An Environment Canada heat warning continues today across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

There’s a temperature high today in Medicine Hat of 36 C.

Here’s what to know.

Don’t leave your dogs in the car

If it’s too warm for people, it’s even warmer for pets so leave them at home when it’s over 25 C, a Medicine Hat expert told CHAT News.

All Dogs Great and Small owner Adam Jones added that heat exhaustion is the main concern for a dog’s health when temperatures rise.

Southern Alberta sets heat records

Records continue to be set in Alberta as the province-wide heat warning remains in effect.

Environment Canada says a ridge of high pressure brought record-setting heat to much of Alberta on Wednesday.

That resulted in new heat records in 29 communities, including Brooks.

Tips for the heat warning

It will be a hot one in Medicine Hat and across southern Alberta this week.

Daytime high temperatures are expected to range from 32 C to as high as 36 C, triggering a heat warning from Environment Canada.
