Celebrations at Kin Coulee Park are hosted by the Medicine Hat Skateboard Association and The Connection.

This 2024 edition of the festival will mark a return of fireworks to Kin Coulee Park in a Canada Day that organizers say will top previous years.

“This year’s event is going to be bigger and better than ever,” Yusef Mohamed, an organizer with The Connection, said.

A party at the park bandshell that starts at 9 p.m. on June 30 will kick off the festivities. There will be bands, a DJ and a glow stick dance party.

Sunday night will be capped off with a fireworks show. Organizers have also teased a “major musical act” that will be confirmed at a later date.

Everything else happens the next day, on Monday, July 1.

The day’s activities start bright and early with yoga at 8 a.m. hosted by Rebel Power Yoga and followed by a free pancake breakfast running from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Throughout the day, there will be free entertainment on the Kin Coulee stage, cultural groups, food trucks, vendors organized by Homestead Market and artisans,

There will also be children’s activities, a petting zoo, and various sporting events, including a volleyball tournament, three-on-three basketball, barefoot soccer and cricket.

Over at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds, there will be a free concert featuring Foxx Worthee, family-friendly activities and fireworks at 11 p.m.
