Severe thunderstorm watch lifted for Brooks, Taber and west of Medicine Hat

A severe thunderstorm watch has been lifted for Brooks, Taber, Lethbridge and a large area west of Medicine Hat.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon and weaken this evening, according to an alert from Environment Canada shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain, the alert said.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
