Sports reporter, substitute anchor and skilled storyteller Lisa Parent moved on from CHAT TV on Friday.

Parent first started with CHAT in spring 2023 and quickly dived into her work, producing impactful, engaging and fun stories for CHAT News.

Here’s what some of her colleagues had to say about her time here.

“Lisa Parent was great for CHAT News from the start. She burst on the scene with a rush of energy that burned bright. I could list the amazing stories Lisa filed for CHAT TV, but it would be a long list. Suffice it to say that all of her stories about dogs, cats and even ducks would be at the top of the list. She absolutely loves her animals!! I will miss working with Lisa Parent once she’s left us, but more than that…I will miss seeing the stories she files for CHAT News. They were always great!! Plus, she loves my baseball team almost as much as I do. Best wishes, Lisa!! And Go Jays Go!!

Dan Reynish, anchor, lineup editor and producer

“When I walked in to CHAT to do my placement, I was shocked by Lisa’s ability to weave a tale. I had already established a relationship with industry peers, and Lisa, only weeks into her reporting career, was already being asked to tackle anchoring duties. As time passed, she grew her craft, helped me improve in every aspect of my career and was hugely important to me as a friend. Knowing where she’s going, she will definitely succeed as her competitive nature won’t let her fail. It’s not too often you look up to someone eight years your junior, but that’s a testament to her talent and willingness to pull her team forward. She’s a great storyteller, has an immense passion for sports and someone I’m lucky to call a close friend.”

Adrian St.Onge, reporter

“My best memory of Lisa was when she was doing stories about pets or animals — and how her face lit up with pure joy.”

Brian Konrad, assignment editor and radio news

“Lisa has a strong ability to bring a story to life and has been a great asset to the newsroom, she will be missed.”

Jesse Gill, reporter

“No one made me feel more welcome in a new city and province than Lisa did when I first came here last fall. In the months since, I’ve learned a lot from her about the world of television news and how to tell stories creatively. She’s always strived to produce top tier reporting in our newsroom, elevating us to the next level. Beyond the station, Lisa has shown me that Medicine Hat and Alberta has so much to offer. She’s a talented storyteller and a good friend. You will be deeply missed. Wishing you the best as you move onto the next chapter in your life!”
