A service disruption affecting Co-op cardlock fuel stations and retail locations across western Canada is being blamed on a cybersecurity incident.

South Country Co-op, responsible for locations in the Medicine Hat area, has been impacted.

Federated Co-operatives Limited said they do not have an estimate on when the issues will be fixed in a statement posted Thursday.

FCL said there are some internal and customer-facing systems that have bbeen impacted.

As a precaution, Co-op said it shut down some of its systems and brought in third-party experts. An investigation is underway.

Customers can still access the Co-op app, the company said.
