Ready, set, quack! Thousands of ducks to race at Kin Coulee on Saturday

Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club is quacking up the excitement with its Duck Derby this weekend, featuring a thousand determined ducks ready to race for a cause.

The ducks, each numbered, will float down the creek at Kin Coulee on Saturday.

Hatters are able to purchase ducks and the first eight ducks to cross the finish line win cash prizes.

Money raised from this event goes towards Kinsmen Club initiatives, such as free swimming around the city.

Steven Pudwell, president of the club, says there will be free food after the event to thank the community for their support.

“Our club puts about $250, 000 on average a year back into the community and we can’t do that without the support of Medicine Hat, so it means everything to us,” Pudwell said.

There are 50 ducks still available that can be purchased on the Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club website.
