Hearing for Medicine Hat mayor’s judicial review set for August

Jun 14, 2024 | 6:06 PM

Mayor Linnsie Clark’s legal attempt to undo the sanctions placed on her by Medicine Hat city council will have its first day in court in August, provincial justice officials confirmed to CHAT News on Friday.

Council on March 21 voted unanimously to remove Clark’s ability to chair meetings, speak to the media on behalf of the city and other restrictions.

That was after council found she broke its code of conduct during a tense exchange with City Manager Ann Mitchell during an August 2023 meeting.

A few days later, Clark revealed her intent to use legal action to reverse council’s decision.

The hearing will take place Aug. 13 in the Court of King’s Bench in Calgary.
