Irrigation system and trail network upgrades begin at Southview and Simpson Parks

Jun 3, 2024 | 4:18 PM

Upgrades with a focus on rehabilitating the irrigation system and enhancing the trail network at Medicine Hat’s Southview and Simpson Parks began on Monday.

The construction project, expected to last until fall 2024, will also introduce alternative landscaping options with the aim of reducing the effort needed for maintenance and upkeep.

The upgrades will include areas intended to promote natural growth to enhance green spaces while reducing water consumption.

The active construction areas will be fenced off and closed to the public. No roads or alleys will be closed during this project.

Residents are asked to please proceed with caution around the construction perimeter and adhere to all posted signage.

Supplemental watering of the existing trees will take place during construction to keep the tree cover in the area healthy and thriving, officials said.
