‘Hold and secure’ lifted for three Redcliff schools

Jun 3, 2024 | 3:55 PM

A “hold and secure” status for Isabel F Cox, Margaret Wooding and Redcliff Mennonite Alternative Program Outreach schools was lifted Monday afternoon.

The three Redcliff schools were locked down “out of an abundance of caution…due to a potential threat from outside the school”, officials said in a letter to parents earlier on Monday.

A hold and secure protocol is activated when it is believed that students are safer inside the school and all entrances to the school are locked.

School activities will continue as normal, however, recess and physical education will all occur in the building instead of outdoors, the letter said.

Parents are encouraged to call the school if they require assistance or have any questions, the letter adds.

The office at Isabel F Cox School was able to confirm the hold and secure was lifted but redirected any further questions to the Prairie Rose Public School Division.
