Over 400 kids from Notre Dame Academy walked for Make-A-Wish Medicine Hat on Friday.

The students managed to raise about $4,500 for the charity, which provides gifts or experiences to children going through sickness.

Notre Dame Academy students walk for Make-A-Wish Foundation

Eleven years ago a student of Notre Dame who was granted a wish passed away, making the event extremely important to them.

They’ve now been doing the walk for 13 years straight.

“I just know if I was sick, I would want to wish to get something,” grade nine student Kate Nichols told CHAT News before the walk.

Elizabeth Kernyang has been participating in the walk for the past three years and added: “It makes you feel like a really good person and it just warms your heart.”

Make-A-Wish is always accepting public donations to help make local kids dreams come true.

Those who are interested in getting involved with Make-A-Wish or are hoping to get their child’s wish granted can contact Donna Serr by emailing dserr@shaw.ca for details.
