May 24, 2024 | 3:46 PM

Police seized over $10,000 worth of drugs from a Medicine Hat hotel room this week.

The Medicine Hat Police Service’s criminal investigation team learned a male staying in a hotel on Redcliff Drive Southwest was in possession of a large quantity of drugs and a firearm.

An investigation launched by police led to a search warrant being executed on the hotel room where a quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl was seized.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $10,442, police said in a Friday news release.

As a result, a 27-year-old man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order and possession of both methamphetamine and fentanyl.

He was held for a judicial interim release hearing where he was remanded into custody pending his next court appearance on May 28 in Medicine Hat Provincial Court.
